There is caselaw related to course packs and copyright

In Basic Books, Inc. v. Kinko's Graphics Corp., 1991, Basic Books sued Kinko's for selling course packs. Kinko's argued that the course packs were put together by professors for educational purposes and were therefore covered by Fair Use.
